AVARO is the child-restraint component.
Safety standards
Safety, explained by component.
The LUNO range brings together different components for different parts of daily movement: vehicle travel, stroller use and lie-flat newborn outings. Each component has its own safety role, testing context and correct-use instructions.
Component standards apply to the relevant component only. AVARO is the child-restraint component, LUNO is the stroller component, and the carrycot is for lie-flat newborn outings outside the vehicle.
Product truth
The standard follows the component.
A baby travel system in South Africa can include several components, but the approval or testing standard must be read against the specific product part being used.
LUNO is the stroller component.
The carrycot is for lie-flat newborn outings outside the vehicle.
Component standards apply only to the relevant component.
Standards by component
AVARO, LUNO stroller and carrycot standards.

What support is included after purchase?

Clear distinctions
How to read these standards correctly
i-Size applies to AVARO
R129 / i-Size applies to AVARO as the infant car seat component. The LUNO stroller has its own stroller-use standard.
The carrycot has a different role
The carrycot is designed for lie-flat newborn outings outside the vehicle. It is not used as a car seat.
ISOFIX supports installation
ISOFIX may help reduce some installation errors, but correct installation, vehicle compatibility and manual checks still matter.
Each component is assessed separately
A LUNO setup can include more than one component. The relevant standard should be read against the specific component being used.
Safety philosophy
Certified safety first. Verified assistance second.
At Mimi, child safety products must first be mechanically reliable, intuitive to use and approved according to the relevant safety standard for their category.
Technology should support correct use
Smart or electronic features can support parents when they are clearly useful, properly tested and designed to fail safely. They should help with setup and routine use, not replace correct installation, vehicle compatibility or manual checks.
Mechanical reliability comes first
The core safety function of a child restraint must not depend on an app, phone battery, Bluetooth connection or sensor alert. The product must remain conventionally safe when any optional technology is unavailable.
Simple, calm and evidence-led
Mimi will only consider smart assistance where there is a clear and proven parent benefit. We avoid medical-style, AI or emergency-prevention claims unless they are formally validated and appropriate for the product category.
